Per Helen's suggestion, I took a watercolor painting that I had started (and gave up on) and used it as the base for an oil pastel. I was listening to Holst's The Planets while I did this one - Mars, if I remember correctly.
Ah yes, the power of Mars. Love the fire and water meeting in this one. Sometimes you can scratch back through the oil pastel with something rigid but not to sharp and you can reveal the watercolor underneath.
